PowerPivot has been described as ‘the best new feature to hit Excel in 20 years’ (Bill Jelen ‘Mr Excel’).  Learn how to use this wonderful tool which puts Excel on steroids and enables you to crunch data like never before in a familiar Excel environment. PowerPivot for Excel enables you to transform large quantities of data with incredible speed into meaningful information to get the answers to important questions.  This PowerPivot workshop is an intensive course that enables Excel users to master PowerPivot.  By attending this course you will learn how to set up PowerPivot, how to import data, create a data model, create relationships, use PivotTable and Power View to navigate data and be introduced to both simple and more advanced calculations in DAX.  We build a PowerPivot model from scratch making this hands-on workshop and enabling you to walk away with practical skills you can reuse in your workplace.

 

Working With PowerPivot

 

This interactive class will show delegates how to set up and use Excel’s PowerPivot (an Excel add-in) to connect to your enterprise databases, analyse data, create advanced reports & prepare summary information from familiar interface of Excel.  The workshop will cover:

 

•    Setting up and installing PowerPivot on your computer.

•    Loading, linking and updating data in the PowerPivot Data Model.

•    Understanding the Data Model and the benefits of in-memory data storage.

•    Creating PowerPivot formulas & Data Analysis Expressions (DAX - the formula language for PowerPivot).

•    Create measures and use them across multiple PivotTables.

 

Consolidation of data quickly and efficiently in Power Pivot

 

In the second part of the workshop we will connect PowerPivot to an external data source, devise formula and build reports based on the newly created information.  The material will cover:

 

•    Creating a PowerPivot Pivot Table from multiple data sources.

•    Connecting Power Pivot to external data sources.

•    Building the relationships between the different tables.

•    Summarizing and aggregating data with DAX functions.

•    Creating end user reports in Excel which draw from PowerPivot.         

•    Update the data sources with fresh periodic data and see this flow to the dashboard.
